Dr. Melissa Cooper spoke to a standing room only crowd at St. Cyprian's! This program was well received by the community. A box lunch was served at the St. Andrew's Parrish Hall, followed by an afternoon session where three Trailblazers were highlighted. Many thanks to our speakers, Georgia Humanities, McSEED, the Links, and all the volunteers and board members who made this an outstanding event!
A lovely reception for Dr. Cooper was held at Ashantilly the evening before the conference.
Joye Hanrahan again provided quite the spread for this year's tea! Although some creative shuffling of furniture provided more seating, it was still sold out with a waiting list! Kudos to Joye and thanks to Bob Allison for his great piano playing!
Open Studio held at the Print Shop was well attended! Everyone printed Valentines and had punch and cookies! Two different cards were set on different presses, and attendees could print either one, or both!
Thanks everyone for coming by the shop, it was great fun!
The "Old Tabby" was gorgeous in it's holiday splendor! Many volunteers used fresh greenery and ribbons to make everything merry and bright! Warm Mulled Wine and Christmas goodies were served, and guests were entertained by the Holiday Highlanders. A wonderful and festive evening!
It was quite an honor to have David Zelski and his crew visit the Print Shop. After exploring and learning about Letterpress, David printed on the treadle-powered platen press! Quite the challenge!
It's always fun to have these Visual Arts students from Needwood Middle visit the shop! The manual printing in this analog medium is a new experience for them, and one which gives them new insight visually.
Dr. Janet Gritzner, Professor Emerita at South Dakota State University, discussed her extensive research into tabby, the historic building material revived by Thomas Spalding.
After a reception, there was a field trip to the ruins of the Sugar Mill and Rum Distillery at Tolomato.
Inclement weather forced a move inside, but that didn't prevent a full crowd and a great party! Rick Caldwell provided the delicious BBQ, the Jimmy Wolling Band some great tunes, and Hopsoul Brewery some great brews! We are grateful for all of our sponsors who made this a successful fundraiser!
Nicholas Silberg led this 2 1/2 day introductory Letterpress workshop. Participants learned how to set type, operate both a C & P platen press, and a Vandercook proof press, and to compose a piece of work. Some really nice work was created!
