  • Closing Reception for Tennille Shuster
    Three weeks at Ashantilly Press allowed Tennille Shuster, 2022 Artist Resident, time to explore the shop’s offerings and produce some incredible work!   • The Art of William O. Golding
    Senior Curator at Telfair Museum of Art, gave a talk about the artwork and the fascinating life of William O. Golding/Golden of Liberty County. Golding’s work is on display at an exhibit at the Jepson Center in Savannah through August 28. Ashantilly has loaned our 2 Goldings for this exhibit.
  • Open Studio: Earth Day Edition
    In honor of Earth Day, visitors to the shop printed on recycled paper. “Make Readies” (printer’s term for trial prints) were cut to size and a Dolly Parton quote was set for guests to print!
    Lots of gardeners, lots of plants! All of the vendors had beautiful plants and a large selection. Great turnout!
    Ashantilly participated in Art in the Park during the Blessing of the Fleet. Visitors to our tent were able to print on our small Kelsey press. Our T-Shirts were a hit as was our selection of local history books and Letterpress cards and coasters.
    After a 2 year delay (thank-you, Covid), we were finally able to have our Scotch Tasting! It was well worth the wait as participants were treated to eight different Scotches instead of the usual six! Many thanks to Vince Becker of Habersham Beverage in Savannah, and his suppliers for making this an outstanding event!

    An Exhibition to benefit Ashantilly Center The Ashantilly Center welcomed Jeannine Cook back to McIntosh County. Now living in Mallorca, Jeannine previously resided at Cedar Point where she formed her intimate knowledge of the Georgia coast. It is this knowledge that is reflected in the work displayed for this exhibition.     Ashantilly’s Long Leaf Pines have done well! A controlled burn keeps them healthy. Planted as a demonstration site, the trees have flourished. Georgia Forestry has been instrumental in helping us with this project.
    Due to Covid, Ashantilly held our annual meeting via Zoom. Several Board members attended in person. Officers and Board members were elected. President Harriet Langford presented a summary of accomplishments completed in 2021. Although we were unable to present our regular programming, upgrades to the house and other buildings, and grant-sponsored work continued.
  • Open Studio: Holiday
    Ashantilly Press held an Open Studio where participants could print holiday cards! Two forms were set by Sara and Nic for the Vandercook and C & P presses. Great turnout and nice cards!
