Please join us for a special afternoon with author and historian Valerie Frey as she shares highlights from her newest book, Georgia’s Historical Recipes: Seeking Our State’s Oldest Written Foodways and the Stories Behind Them.
Valerie is known for her engaging storytelling and deep research into Southern history and culture. In this new work, she explores some of the earliest written recipes found in Georgia—from family journals and community cookbooks to archival collections—uncovering not only what people cooked, but also the stories of the families, communities, and traditions behind the food.
Her talk will highlight Georgia’s rich culinary past, weaving together the flavors, ingredients, and customs that have shaped our state’s table for centuries. Whether you are a history enthusiast, a food lover, or simply curious about Georgia’s cultural heritage, this event offers a delightful way to experience the past through food and story.
