On Saturday, May 10, dozens gathered at Ashantilly Center to view the recently released documentary Longleaf Forever and listen to a panel discussion about the longleaf pine, its environmental benefits, and its preservation.
Carol Denhof, president of the Longleaf Alliance; Ben Sterling, Jr., program manager for McIntosh SEED; and Ashley Curtis, Savannah River Prescribed Burn Coordinator, Tall Timbers, participated in a panel discussion following the documentary, answering questions from attendees and providing additional information.

After the panel discussion, attendees took a short stroll through a portion of Ashantilly’s 16 acres of longleaf pine forest.
The book The Forest That Fire Made: An Introduction to the Longleaf Pine Forest was also for sale at the event, and many took advantage of purchasing a copy and having it signed.
Many lingered after the discussion enjoying refreshments and lively conversation.
