Ashantilly Center’s Valentine’s Day Poetry Reading with Champagne and Chocolates was a sold-out success, welcoming guests for an unforgettable afternoon of poetry, reflection, and sweet indulgence. Held on Saturday, February 14 at 3 p.m., the event offered a charming and meaningful way to celebrate Valentine’s Day, surrounded by the beauty and warmth of Ashantilly.

Acclaimed Southern writer and poet Georgann Eubanks captivated the audience with readings from her book Rural Astrology, sharing poems that moved gracefully between childhood memory and present-day observation. Her deep connection to the Southern landscape resonated throughout the room, leaving guests inspired, engaged, and appreciative of the moment.

The decadent dessert spread was a highlight all its own. Guests enjoyed an impressive variety of chocolate treats, including rich chocolate cake, French Silk Pie, Chess Pie, Dubai chocolates, beautiful strawberries, homemade candies, cookies, and more. The sweets were savored by all while guests sipped champagne or festive punch, adding an extra touch of celebration to the afternoon.

With seating limited and advance registration required, the sold-out crowd was a testament to the community’s enthusiasm for special events at Ashantilly Center. From the first poem to the final toast, it was truly an enchanting Valentine’s Day gathering, one that guests will remember long after the last verse was read.
